SAN ANTONIO, TX – July 9, 2020 – The Postcard Agency donated 10% of its June 2020 profits to the National Black Justice Coalition (NBJC), a civil rights organization dedicated to empowering Black lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and same gender loving (LGBTQ/SGL) people.

“We’re committed to supporting Black people in achieving true equality and justice nationwide,” said Jonathan Ochart, founder and CEO of The Postcard Agency, a marketing and public relations firm based in San Antonio, Texas. “Donating a portion of our profits to NBJC is one of the first steps we are taking to help end violence and injustice against Black people across the United States.”
NBJC’s mission is to end racism, homophobia and LGBTQ/SGL bias and stigma, according to the organization’s website. As the leading national Black LGBTQ/SGL civil rights organization focused on federal public policy, NBJC works with Black families to strengthen the bonds and bridge the gaps between the movements for racial justice and LGBTQ/SGL equality.
The organization’s cornerstone issues are health and wellness, HIV awareness and prevention, safe and inclusive schools, employment non-discrimination, relationship and family recognition, anti-violence and economic justice.
“People should feel safe and secure in expressing themselves, regardless of the color of their skin or who they love,” Ochart said. “As an LGBTQ-owned business, we share NBJC’s mission to end racism and LGBTQ+ bias and stigma.”
NBJC focuses on bringing attention to the Black LGBTQ/SGL community and fostering dignity and respect for all African American families, according to NBJC’s website. “Building Stronger Black Families” is the theme guiding NBJC’s planning and program development as it works to remove the inequalities of policy-based initiatives that weaken Black families and communities.

The Postcard Agency encourages its employees and freelancers to participate in social justice marches and demonstrations, as well as frequenting Black-owned businesses. The team participated in the Queer Black Lives Matter March and Vigil in June, for example, to show its support of the Black Lives Matter movement during LGBTQ+ Pride Month. The Human Rights Campaign San Antonio, Transgender Education Network of Texas and Texas Organizing Project organized the event.
“Our team will continue evaluating opportunities to foster a diverse workforce and participate in community-driven initiatives,” Ochart said. “Supporting the Black community in San Antonio and beyond is a long-term effort, and we won’t slow down until justice for Black people prevails.”
