Encouraging Consumers to Shop at Museum Stores

Many people know about museum stores, but they don’t understand their far-reaching impact. That’s why the Museum Store Association launched Museum Store Sunday in 2017. Each year on the Sunday after Thanksgiving, thousands of museums and museum stores offer special events, discounts and more to shoppers seeking unique, eco-friendly and locally made gifts that give back to their communities.

Hoping to educate consumers about the shopping initiative and make 2023 its biggest year ever, the Museum Store Association hired The Postcard Agency to plan and execute a retail PR and influencer marketing campaign that delivered results.

Our PR efforts secured more than 300 pieces of coverage for the annual shopping initiative across TV, digital, print and radio outlets, resulting in an advertising value equivalency of $1.39 million (based on 3.78 million estimated media impressions).

Museum Store Sunday was featured in countless prestigious publications in large cities across the U.S., including the Boston Globe, Dallas Morning News, San Francisco Chronicle, Philadelphia Tribune and the Austin-American Statesman.

The annual shopping initiative was also featured in several TV segments in large markets across the country — from Los Angeles to Chicago to New York.
